Hello and welcome to the website of the Fingal motor club, check back often for regular updates to our news, downloads and gallery sections. The Fingal motor club is affiliated to the Motor Cycle Union of Ireland Southern Centre Ltd.
In Ireland the sport of motorcycle road racing has two disciplines:
1. Pure Road Racing on a public road course which is closed off for the duration of racing.
2. Short circuit racing performed on a purpose built man made circuit venue.
The calendar of racing is run annually between March and October.
Venues in Rep of Ireland: there are several pure road races annually. Information on these events is available.
There is only one short circuit venue in the Republic of Ireland. This is at Mondello Park near Naas, County Kildare. It is situated 23 miles from Dublin and is sign-posted off the westbound N7.
The sport is governed by the F.I.M. which is based in Geneva Switzerland, to whom is affiliated individual F.M.N.'s of each Country. In Ireland the F.M.N. is the Motorcycle Union of Ireland to whom is affiliated individual organising Clubs. In Southern Ireland the most active organising club is Fingal Motor Club Ltd.
Anyone can race motorcycles, subject to some simple Rules; A rider must be a member of an affiliated club through whom it is then possible to apply for a competition licence which is renewed annually.
