Important announcement

FINGAL MOTOR CLUB WILL promote a round of the ISB at Mondello Park on May 26th & 27th. Entry form and regulations will be available next week on this website. Due to severe shortage of club officials this will be the only event the club will run in 2007. Anybody who would like to help either behind the scenes or at the event email you details to info@fingalmc.com

Fingal's ability to run events in 2008 is dependant on new people offering to help out.

Emergency General Meeting

Emergency General Meeting on Tuesday 6th February in the Black Forge Inn, 163 Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12 at 8 p.m. All members are URGENTLY requested to attend.

What is the reason for this EGM?

Fingal held their AGM in Dec. Apart from the committee only 1 other person turned up and he has the best attendance of anybody. We have been struggling to find people to help run the club for years. Each AGM for the last 5 years I have stated that the day will come when we will not be able to run events due to a lack of manpower. That day has arrived. For various reasons several members of the committee declared that they were standing down and would not be available in 2007. Unfortunately these are the people who have being doing 90% of the work over the last few years. Now there is nobody trained and available, ready to step into the breech. Because of the low turnout at the AGM , it was decided to hold an EGM before taking any major decision.

How come this is such a surprise to some members?

Anybody who has attended any Fingal club meeting over the last few year and especially the AGM's would have heard about this problem. The committee have seen this day approaching and have tried to alert everybody. Riders have to join a club so they can get a licence. Trying to get them to engage and help out is difficult. Understandably riders are interested in racing. If only we could get a few of the rider who stop racing each year to stay on and help we would not be in this position.

What is the worst scenario for the Fingal Motor Club?

The worst scenario for the Fingal Motor Club is that we will not run any events until we have the staff trained and available. The worst scenario for the riders is that the 2 meetings scheduled to be run by Fingal at Mondello this year will not be run. However I am sure some of the other clubs will take over these dates (April 1st clubmans May 25&26 ISB)

Should both club members and non club members turn up?

Everybody is welcome. There will also be a flag seminar on the night and riders can get their license application sorted out.

Should the riders be worried?

Yes. If the other clubs have to take over the running of these events, that puts more pressure on the officials at these clubs. Short circuit racing at Mondello is run by a very small group of people. Regardless of which club is running the event you will see members for other clubs helping out. Fingal loosing 3 key committee members effects all events. There has to be some people in the paddock at each event who would love to help out but don't know who to ask or might think they are not needed. They are! Talk to any official at the bottom of the control tower.


Reminder

All competitors are reminded that entries for the Race of the Year close on the 19th of May.


Mondello - March 19th 2006

It was a pity we had to abandon racing with only half the racing complete but in the interests of safety we really did not have any other options.

I feel really sorry especially since all the good work posting flyers paid off and we had a great crowd. I only hope they come back again.

Some riders, the Pre97 non-qualifiers, never even got a chance to race. These riders will receive a 20 Euros discount of the next Fingal clubmans event, August 20th. We will post a list of riders eligible on our website.

For the other clubman classes, we will re-use the trophies we had for the second races, next August. That will allow us to spend all the allocated money on a single set of awards for the second race for each class in August.

We will double the awards for last Sundays Brianne cup race 1.

And finally we already have received entries for both of our next events
